As you can see, this is an exceedingly simple object consisting of a same-sized cube and cylinder extruded from the same plane in different directions - and it breaks the mesh. Interestingly enough, only on two of the four facets involved though. And of course the issue goes away with restricting to triangles - but I could find literally no other way to avoid the issue, short of actually changing the dimensions of one of the objects so they no longer meet tangentially; but that's hardly a proper solution, is it...
