WorldTimeAPI has been running for over 7 years, offering a simple, no-nonsense way to query time and timezone information over HTTP.
Unfortunately, the service has shut down. The ongoing hosting and operational costs have become too high to justify for a free service in the current economic climate.
With over 7 years online, WorldTimeAPI has some interesting metrics:
- >2,000 requests per second sustained on average
- ~10,000 requests per second peak throughput
- Averaged over 175 million requests per day, or 5.2 billion requests per month
- More than 500 billion requests served over its lifetime
Thanks to everyone who used and supported this service over the years.
