En hurtig implementering af HTML 5-fortolkningsspecifikationen for Python. Fortolkningen udføres i C via en variant af gumbo-fortolkeren. Gumbo-fortolkningstræet omdannes så til et lxml-træ, også i C, der giver en fortolkningstid der kan være en tredivte del af html5lib-fortolkningstiden. Det er en hastighedsforøgelse på 30x. Dette er anderledes end for eksempel Gumbos Pythonbindinger, hvor opstartsfortolkningen udføres i C, men transformationen til det endelige træ udføres i Python.
