Split is a Croatian city with a population of about 160,000 in 2021, making it the second largest city in Croatia.[2] It is located at the Adriatic Sea and about 400,000 people live in the metropolitan region.[2] Its port offers year-round connections to most islands of its region, Dalmatia. Sources of income vary but include tourism, fishery, paper mills, cement works and some chemical industry.
